FREAK SCENE RESTAURANTS SEPTEMBER 2024 PRESS RELEASE
September 2024: Freak Scene, the pan-Asian restaurant run by Australian chef Scott Hallsworth, previous Nobu Head chef and founder of Kurobuta, is delighted to announce the launch of their new High Tea brunch at both their Fulham and Balham restaurants. Launching in October and running every Saturday, the dynamic set menu will be ever changing with Scott creating bespoke dishes. Priced at £48 per person the menu will showcase Hallsworth’s creativity and flair in the kitchen.
Taking inspiration from the High Teas in Singapore and served on a bespoke cake stands, guests will be treated to a welcome drink and charred edamame with sake, butter, lemon and sea salt to start off with.
The top tier of the stand will feature expertly crafted char sui pulled shiitake puffs, tuna sashimi tacos and Thai miang kham leaf wraps with the middle tier including house pickles and seared salmon sashimi with ginger, soy and chilli, served with dipping sauces of chilli oil crunch and truffle ponzu.
On the bottom tier guests can feast on flavour packed dishes such as BBQ pork belly buns with peanut soy, crispy rock shrimp jalapeno, chicken, salmon or tofu kushi-yaki with Japanese BBQ sauce, Grilled tender stem broccoli with creamy goma ponzu and scallop sui mai with yuzu egg sauce and yuzu tobiko.
To finish off the meal in style, a Birthday cake bomb Alaska with a pandan and coconut sauce will be served table side. All dishes can be washed down by special High Tea cocktails, created by Scott and his bar team. All priced at £12 diners can enjoy tipples such as Down to Chinatown – Appleton’s Rum, Jasmin Tea, Apple Juice, Disaronno and Passionfruit Syrup served in a Teapot. Other cocktails will include a Marmalade Martini, Singapore Kopi ‘Espresso’ Marini, Japanese Bloody Mary and Rose Petel Martini.
The Brunch will be served every Saturday from 12pm to 5pm (last booking at 4pm)

Freak Scene, the pan-Asian restaurant run by Australian chef Scott Hallsworth (ex- Head chef of Nobu and one-time founder of Kurobuta), opened back in March 2018 right in the heart of Soho, after popping up the year before in Farringdon. Freak Scene came to Fulham in March 2023. Freak Scene Sushi and Robata came to Balham in 2024.
